Yea, I don't need binoculars to see the end of the thong any more. :)

THE OVERLAY IS DONE!
It is an 8' 6" whip. I will probably use a 30" fall and about an 8" cracker.
Now to roll it.
Then fall,cracker, knots and CRACKIN' . :)

Yeeeeha, well done Ron.
I bet you're pleased with that.
I'm really excited for you, it's a respectable length of whip to make as well.

Show us when you've prettied it up some more, .... :)

Boy howdy do I have a long way to go.
I'm still having trouble with dropping strands smoothly.
Dropping when it starts to get crowded is not an easy thing to do for me. (yet)
However this whip is light years ahead of #1. :)

The handle is semi straight but could be a lot straighter.

The taper is very subtle it doesn't show it well but it's very even all the way down.
There is also a lot of twisting it seems too.
Even though I am not happy with it, it's a big improvement.

Now to see how it cracks when it's complete. :)
(the fun part)

Ron, this is a huge improvement on your first whip. Well done - especially with the taper! I hope you can get to 'the fun part' (cracking it) quite soon! :)

It's looking really good, the twisting issue will go away in time when you get more practice and also get used to plaiting off a hook.

BEAUTIFUL!!!!! You did great! Shoot, if I don't watch what I'm doing at 7pl and down it twists in a hurry. Ron that's not bad on the twist, on your SECOND whip!!!!

I think you've done a great job. Be very proud!

Rolling it seems to have smoothed out some of the twisting. Now to do your fall hitch and heel knots and get some cracking done! Awesome job Ron.

Thank you Rachel, Philbert and Markus.
Some of the twist did straighten out some.
I have learned a lot again.
This I will put forth on W#3

Ron that is a damn fine whip for your #2. I don't see much twist at all, just little shifts where your drops occur. Shifts and twists are two totally different things. This should be a very fine functioning whip. Congrats sir

Very well done, Ron. I can see the time and effort you put in, it really does show.

That's a super looking whip. Don't fret about the little twist in the overlay, quite a lot of it went away with the rolling anyway. Maybe give it another roll for good measure.
The taper is very smooth and drawn across the whole length, and we know from the construction updates that the binding is second to none.

I think you have a very fine whip there. You'll see, once the knots are done, it'll look really good.
Well done Ron, you did a splendid job there.
