The "Making of" Gallery - Rachel McCollough

This new Gallery replaces the former "Masters Gallery", which will work from now on as pure archive. Here you will find not only the work and art from folks who sell whips, but also from folks, who create their whips out of pure passion. And we have an additional gallery. It is called "The Gallery - Making of".

Mr. Robert, I agree a slightly longer handle would do a little better, though one that long still has a trade off for balance and sheer weight. It takes a little to get it started, for sure. It is still accurate.
It is a different one.

Thanks, Mark! I sure appreciate it!

Scott, I like the colors together, too. Thank you!

Thanks, Jyri! No sir, unfortunately it is way too wet (for a client’s whip) and it has just been mailed. I sure wish I did have a video of it in action.

Waiting on some overlay material which has been shipped, plaiting on the next one while waiting on that.
There’s a cow whip, a bull whip, a stock whip, and a couple Amper Styles in there. Off to the side not in the picture is another cow whip.

More soon-to-be-happy customers!
I'll give it a try, Dad, but it's going to be really hard...kind of like trying to saw something in half using a banana.

Nice plaiting!

How do you attach your whip when plaiting?

Thanks, Jyri!

I suppose you mean how I hang the whip while plaiting? I half hitch a stray strand of cord and hang it up with up for a bullwhip. For all others, I plait around a loop just as you do with a cow whip.

If you mean how I started the belly with the strands, it is a square start.
Other whips are all made same as a cow whip layer by layer, as there is no rod in them.

I love when you post progress photos. :)
I like the way you are lining up the "Vs" on the underlying belly and the "Vs" on the top.
Nice.

Thank you, Ron! That’s how I learn, everyone’s progress photos!
Yes sir, always I rotate the bellies 180 degrees and plait with the v lining up. Rotate again same for overlay...
This’ll be the second belly. It’s 14 plait.
The final overlay will be 8’
