I gave it good binding and 18plat sleeve.

Now it feels like it really has some meat on it. As i made few rollouts it felt about right. I'm going test it today. You really can see how fast that white starts to get dirty :D

So i finally got a moment for this project.
I made brass spacers, cutted birchbark, stackked them and peened it.

After 40-60min in oven about 100c i peened it some more and gave it rough grinding

After that i started to figure out the final shape

Next time i will get the size and shape ready. I put it to drill and grind it while it spins. Then i make wooden cover to that steel.

This is going to be splendid, Jyri! Is there any chance it will be ready for Wednesday, Finland's 100th birthday?

That looks very nice, Jyri.
I'll give it a try, Dad, but it's going to be really hard...kind of like trying to saw something in half using a banana.

Thank you!
Today i sanded it to final shape and made a tube from curly birch.

Next step is to make foundation to the transition and make a knot. I have to make new fall and clean it up a bit and hopefully take some picks outside if i have sunlight.
Bircbark really feels like heaven in your hand :)

Thanks!
Here is the knot

It looks kind of bulky, but the thong is a little beefy. The handle really balances the whip as it is one heavy handle.
