First "real" kangaroo hide bullwhip. This was a 10ft 12 plait Saddle Tan bullwhip. Looking back at this there are obvious flaws that I would never let out, such as gaps in the turks head knots. Strands were a bit uneven in places and there are bumps and "steps" where strands drop.

Jeff if that was your first one then you should be proud. I love the two tone heel knot

That's a beautiful piece right there, even if its not perfect, Jeff. Those colors really look good together

Here is my first "real" stockwhip. 6ft long with a half-plait handle in Whiskey. This was an early attempt at a stockwhip. The handle taper was off and the whip at first felt too light. As I worked with it, it became a fast cracking whip. It had a whitehide fall and polyprolene cracker.

Another stockwhip, this time in black with a full plait handle. It is also a 12plait whip. I gave this to my father for a Christmas present.

A 5ft Roan bullwhip. This is actually my favorite color, and nearly impossible to get now. I've changed a few things since I started making whips. One obvious difference is the amount of binding. I bind more and further out now.

4th bullwhip, 6ft 12plait natural tan. Still working on my "style" and technique at this point.

Jeff, those are so sharp looking!
Love the Roan color too bad it's so hard to acquire now.

The longest bullwhip I've ever made - a 12ft 12plait in saddle tan. This was a custom order for a "real" cowboy. Unfortunately he ended up in a Las Vegas barfight that put him into the hospital and he eventually died without ever handling the whip (or paying for it!) It was to be used on horseback for getting cows out of the bogs. It was eventually bought by one of my son's substitute teachers.

I have also made whips out of cowhide. I don't like it as much as kangaroo. This was a 6ft 12plait multicolor Cowhide bullwhip. It was for an auction at my son's school. The auction was to benefit Autistic programs at his school. It was the most sought after item in the auction. The colors represent the Autism Puzzle Piece symbol. Cowhide is more difficult to work with as it is thicker and not as strong as kangaroo. Each strand was hand dyed.
