The plaiting is finished on this simple little 6' 12 plait black whip,

Now it's handle and wax time:

Lovely job, as usual whippy sistah. I featured you guys on the facebook page yesterday. It's starting to get some traffic from outside the forum now, so you are all in the spotlight

Show 'em how its done

Rachel, did you notice any extra support using the checker board at and through the transition then to the herringbone for the rest of the thong?

Thanks Jessie

shared that post on my page!
Thanks Ron, Yessir, just as Roy said it adds extra stiffness and springiness. Hope to try it out "for real" soon!

I think I might try that when I get to the transition point as well.
How far did you plait the diamond until you started switching to the herringbone?

Rachel , I wonder if a diamond pattern all the way through out the thong would affect the roll out and performance of the whip and how much?

Howdy Ron, it is 12" of diamond plait and 4 inches of attempted birds eye.
I would think a full diamond plait would affect the rollout though I'm not sure just how much. It would be neat to see.

I REALLY like the single strand diamond plait on the transition. Very very nice. Your plaiting has improved so much Rachel, very impressive.

Thanks, Grant, I really am liking it myself- I think it's really going to feel right on when the handle is on there.
Mr. Robert, thank you very much!

That looks super cool and classy! I'd love to hear how the different plaiting affects the rollout and feel of it.

Thanks, Efren! It definitely feels more "springy" than I'm used to, it moves good though maybe a bit quicker as far as I can see. I would think that has to be the different plaiting as binding and everything else is pretty much the same as I normally do.
Here it is done, a 14" brown ash handcut handle with a slightly larger exterior cup (it will take a LOT of use, I wanted to be sure it does not crack on the wall of that cup...),
12 plait black 6' glued in thong.

Awesome, i like how the difference in plaiting patterns pops out even though it's a full black thong

I conquer Philbert, I think that it really adds to the plain black color. So cool.
