This is the Gallery of "Gator Whips" - Roy Partin

This new Gallery replaces the former "Masters Gallery", which will work from now on as pure archive. Here you will find not only the work and art from folks who sell whips, but also from folks, who create their whips out of pure passion. And we have an additional gallery. It is called "The Gallery - Making of".

Thank you all so very much. It was difficult to let that pair leave my hands.
Robby, that black is the fall tied on. I think the official name of that knot is the "Nail Knot".

What a great looking set Mr. Partin - excellent work !!!

Both whips remind me of your 10 foot Cow whip that Robby reviewed in one of his Youtube videos.

All the best

I love making these kid's whips. The look on their face is magical when they crack it for the first time. It's 6ft 12 plait with BB core and Goncalo handle.

Hey! At least there was someone watching the video! :) Serious - great work, Roy. Well... As always!
Would it be possible to have a picture of the kids with their whips?

Thank you for sharing!

Robby

p.s.
Thank you for the info - "nail knot" is it. I knew there was something different!

Thank you very much Rachel and Robby.
Robby I will see if it's new owner will get a pic for me.
Robby the Nail Knot is very easy to tie when out on the trail and it's very secure. It doesn't require the use of a nail either. I think Rhett had a video on tying it

I had been through Florida and found a country and western store that sold whips but something was very strange about these whips that I had never seen before. It was the first time that I had ever seen a nylon bullwhip. I had to have one and I loved it and it is still cracking great to this day and that was 13 yrs ago. Well since then I have brought the family on vacation to Disney and Universal studios and on both trips while everyone else was spending on souvenirs I just held on to my money for trip home and made sure to stop for fuel right next to my favorite store in Florida. Thank GOD for those Florida Crackers out of 6 whips every one of them are still great
MR Roy I'm not sure if you were making whips 13 years ago but the whips that I was talking about in that post look exactly like your black 12 footers, and they are time tested and were worth every penny and more. I have been reading your posts and see that you have been turning your own handle on a lathe. Well sir your handles are phenomenal. I am actually going to be doing some hands on learning sometime in the next week or two. My brother knows that I loved to make nunchaku when I was a kid. He was working for an exotic wood wholesaler that that would sell custom lengths cut to spec. He saved some of the small pieces and brought me a box full of several kinds of hardwood stock. Some of it he called tiger wood which is another name for Goncalo.

Thank you, Roy. I'm pretty sure that there's no nail involved :)

Johnny, thank you very much. You are correct, in FL it is rather common to find very nice nylon whips sold in stores or in the trucks of traveling salesmen, being that it's a part of our culture.
I love the Goncalo(Tiger Wood) since is by far the easiest wood to turn. I can't wait to see what you do with it

Robby,
When I looked up the proper instructions for that knot it shows the use of a nail for helping to keep everything in line while tightening the knot. A finger works perfectly fine for tying this knot with with paracord, so no rusty nail needed

Thank you my friends.
Here is another 12 footer I just completed. I managed to slow Nola down for a minute to model for the camera.

Great looking whip as usual Roy.
The cute little muffin model is like a mini Lindsay with a very contagious smile.
Great job.
