Looking forward to this. Your choices from me are a cow whip, a cow whip, and/or a cow whip.

Just finished my whip for the swap. I want to apologize beforehand to the future owner, It might already be broke in because I had to try it out this morning, a lot. Took it for a test run in the yard. It's heavy, slow, loud, accurate, and heavy again. The new owner will get a good workout with this whip. I'm calling it "The Bull Gator". It has a touch of Texas bullwhip mixed with Florida cow whip. I love it in every aspect but don't expect a long volley session out of it. Super accurate, I cracked the same tiny target dozens of times over and over without a miss. I wanted to match a dark handle with the dark thong, but my girls out voted me. They said it was too much dark, so I went with a light ash handle to satisfy my fashion patrol girls. This is another unleaded whip with a plaited core, 2 bellys and 16 plait overlay. I hope it doesn't look too boring, I wanted it to look like a working tool. I plan to ship it today. Here are a couple of sample pics

Don't worry, it's not too boring. After all, a working whip from Texas is an exotic thing almost everywhere in the world.

Nice work, we'll be hearing from the recipient in a while.

I like it, simple looking but still elegant! Whomever gets it will be happy despite it's prebroken-inness I'm sure!

I agree. Very good idea and I think, it'll be a very reliable companion. Perhaps a picture which shows it in full...?

Thanks, Roy!

Looks good Roy, I find the light plain woods and a Brown thong makes a very nice combination. I'm sure whoever receives it will be thrilled even with a little breaking in already.

Just an idea, but how about full pictures after the whip has reached its new owner? For the sake of surprise.

I agree with everyone so far. I like the color combination of dark brown and light wood. A little breaking in is more of a bonus than a drawback. It's also cool the way the wax, combined with a little use, gives it an old-leather patina.
If you would rather send it out looking 100% new though, you could always give it a once-over with a hair dryer to melt the wax back to an even coating.
16 plait is an expensive way to get the weight up in terms of labor but I bet it gives you better results in terms of even distribution. From what we can see so far, very impressive job!

Thanks everybody for the gracious comments. Pokkis, I agree and if Robby doesn't mind then I will let its new owner post pics of it. Jonathan, that is why I love that rust colored cord. When you wax it, it takes on a weathered leather appearance. It is by far my most requested color on whip orders. Cowboys like the old, used and abused look.

Ya Roy. That is one beautiful color. It does look like a weathered leather whip. It's very true that someone will be happy here soon when they get this one.

Sounds good, more surprises. How would you compare the Rust paracord when waxed to Chocolate brown and Dark Brown? I'm a fan of the Dark brown as the effect is indeed similar to worn leather.

Looks great Roy. Like everyone already mentioned, the used leather look adds a nice bit of character to the whip.

Dark brown is good also, but to me that rust color beats it by a long shot when trying to get the leather look.

Roy, I think its really cool that someone will be getting a genuine Texas cowboy's working tool. Most of us are pretty removed from the original design intent of our whips, so thats something special.

I agree that the rust looks fantastic. Really pulls it all together.

Well that is good to know, thanks for sharing thoughts on it, I've been looking for a leather-like coloration once waxed. I look forward to seeing the whole whip.

Roy: I like the whip. I know nothing about cow whips but thought that they were usually 12 plait so a 16 plait must be a big one.
I like the brown and don't think it is boring at all.

Roy, is that the name of that particular color paracord? Rust? If so, MUST FIND! I absolute love the color! *Just a note folks* This is a Florida whip, it just happens to have Texas influence. And as a Native Son of the Great State of Texas - I give it my stamp of approval. That thing looks grand. I've been wanting to do that very thing, find something close to that color and making one look as close to leather as possible. Now I have a much better idea of how that would look. Thanks for that Roy. And wow, that is going to be one lucky recipient!

Glad I could help out. Yes, it's Rust and I usually order from Ubraidit. My favorite color and the more you use the whip the better it looks.

That picture almost makes it look (as they have said above) like it is worn. It is really neat. Nice choice on the color.
