As I understand the rules Robby, I am on board.

Update: I have received the whip from Caleb Krug, and it is reviewed on page 2.

Well, I believe that as of now I plan on a 7 foot woody. I have to iron out the details on the handle and thong pattern and color(s).

For a taste of handle possibilities, here is a few.
Left to right, Myrtlewood, Black Walnut, Wenge, Burmese Blackwood, and Lignum Vitae, which is the smallest and heavier than first three and similar in weight to the fourth.

I like them all a lot, but I think the walnut is the best looking and unique. Nice work

Well Turned!!! I wish I had me one of those lathes.

They are all beautiful. I particularly like the color on the middle one.

Thank you the kind words everyone, I will post some progress photos shortly. Gideon, it would certainly be worth getting even a small benchtop lathe if you enjoy turning, it can be therapeutic I think, and they can be had reasonably cheap.

Folks, I don't want to be rude or something. But I think, this is Devin's thread on the whip he's creating for the whip swap. Please copy all your posts according to that lathe story and take it into the thread Whip making Tools - where it belongs. Gideon - please open a new thread in that area. Thank you!

Would you do that, please? Because afterwards I'm going to delete these posts. Please respect, that it's Devin's show, here.

Thanks to all,
Robby

Almost done, all that remains is to epoxy the connection point, serve the eye, wax the thong, and create an appropriate fall, and perhaps some small details.
So, it is a 7 foot, 16 plait Woody Bullwhip, in Dark Brown with 1 pair of black. I'm now convinced that I like plaiting tip to heel better, at least on the overlay, kudos to Tyler and Carl for the push.

Wow! I am still in the planning stage!
I like the eye. I tried some proto types b4 deciding on a regular fall hitch on a whip I am just finishing. I did not come up with an eye that looked good in paracord.

Very very nice Devin. Love the color scheme. Goes very well with the handle.
