Keep at it! This took me forever to learn...

I have even had to redesign the plait generator because I did not notice that the diamond plait was ending in U1 when it should have been ending in O1 on the pattern I had originally planned.

I noticed this because when I got to a point that the design changed at the middle of the handle the Us and Os just did not match up. Every thing was reversed.
Sooooo , I had to start over..... again.

But I am determined to make this work somehow.

I solved the lighting problem temporarily .
I attached the hanger to a support pole on the back porch.
This is great because the height is totally adjustable by just sliding the paracord up and down the pole.
Unfortunately the light is starting to fade now because of clouds and it starting to get dark a little.

Well, there ya go.

Ron, looking good, but you might want to attach the whip closer, as the cord will twist easily and it'll be a pain trying to keep it straight.

Thanks Bobbi, now maybe I can see what I am doing.
Now if I can just make some progress with out having to undo every thing after making mistakes that should not be made.
I don't know why this is so hard for me. It seems most can do this with no problem.

However , not doing it is not an option at the present time.

Philbert, I am just using the cord to support the thong while I plait.
Not as resistance to pull against.
Tomorrow I am going to also try the 'belly anchor' and see if that will free up my hands a little more.

Ron, i meant to tie the whip closer to the carabiner, as the cord will twist while plaiting, so it's easier to maintain the straight plaiting.

Keep at it Ron you'll get it. I need to make a adjustable jig for attaching the thong to. Hmm that would be alot of jig for a 14 foot whip. Maybe something like a bow string jig, except much bigger. I'm going to try plaiting from a hook too.

Ron that looks like a great set up, I hope it works for you. Plaiting outside is something I have wanted to do for a while but the only plaiting I get to do is at night. No lighting and mosquitoes prevent that from happening

Roy, this will work for a little while, then it will be too hot.
That back porch gets to around 105f + in the summer.
And those mosquitoes can be a real bother at times.

Yep summer time is creeping closer. I hate turning handles in the summer when my shop is like a damn oven

Ron, you said that most can do it with not problem.... Not true! The longer the whip and the more strands, the more swear words at first. It is basically a controlled mess till you get about 3 feet down. You'll get used to it, but it will never be "no Problem". You, truly are doing great. I'm proud of you.

The way you have documented the making of your second whip shows how much care, work thought you put into each step involved-I am impressed Sir!
I sometimes need to vent too-I think everbody does.
I am looking forward to see how the build of your second whip continues.
