This is the Gallery of "Wolf Creek Whips" - Rachel McCollough

This new Gallery replaces the former "Masters Gallery", which will work from now on as pure archive. Here you will find not only the work and art from folks who sell whips, but also from folks, who create their whips out of pure passion. And we have an additional gallery. It is called "The Gallery - Making of".

You bet :) That was what happened when I tried my first wax experiment, the black lace shrunk badly. I haven't tried waxing anything with paracord on it yet, I would expect wave lace might behave a little differently though.

Some weeks ago (months?) Rachel sent Robby a cow whip. Robby reviewed it - but also made an alteration: he glued the thong into the cup, to prevent any play at that point while the whip was in flight. Rachel took his suggestion on board in a big way, and I asked her for one of these new models, Well, it's here!

Rachel calls this the 'Amper Style'. Mine is Number 002, because - although I ordered it very soon after Robby's review - it's his suggestion, after all, that led to this new design. So, if there's to be an 001, it should be his!

My whip has a 7-foot thing glued into a 14 inch handle. The wood used is very hard and heavy (heavier than Robby likes, as he prefers a more 'nose-heavy' whip). I still haven't quite discovered all this beauty will do, but it's magnificent! The rasp-carved handle is a real work of art; the balance of the thong seems perfect. It virtually cracks itself. In fact, I haven't once flicked it even lightly, and not made it crack! In a week or two, when I'm a bit more used to it, I'll report further.

(I paid for this just in time, too, before Brexit caused the Pound to drop sharply. It's still falling. I don't foresee any more American purchases unless things get better.)

PS - I should have said that these photos were taken by Rachel. Also, her communication is a perfect model of thoughtful courtesy!

I'll be up to have a crack with that one Robert!

Rachel, I'm interested in how you finish off your thongs. It looks like you're taking existing cords and then twisting them into a tapered final section to the fall hitch. My question is how do you create a fall hitch from the tapered section? It looks like your taking a 4-point end and then TT-ing them into the hitch. ???????????

WOW Mr. Robert.
That is one seriously beautiful whip.
I love the documentation on the end of the handle.
One day that might increase the value of this, so far, 2 of a kind whip.
Well done Rachel.
Happy crackin' Mr. Robert.

That looks fantastic Rachel. You have really honed your plaiting. I love the rich colors of the thong and handle. Congrats Mr Robert, hope to see some video of it in flight one day

Mr. Robert, nice view thanks.
I think a good name would be the " Amper Connection".

Robert, congrats on the new whip, i love the color of the handle, the black thong goes really well together. My first impression of it when i saw the picture was that it gave off a very leather like look to it.

Mr. Robert, thank you very much, it is my honor to have made this whip for you. I'm very pleased you are thus far happy with it, and yes sir, just in time before the Brexit instability.
I cannot take credit for the naming of the whip line, that is to the credit of the Inventor-though I'm very honored to have the privilege of putting that name on the handle!

The specs are:
All materials through Whip Nation- artificial sinew, wood, and paracord.
Thank you Roy for your great customer service!

7' 16 plait Acid Dark Brown waxed thong with two plaited bellies over a tight TT core ending in a 4 plait into a Twisted Taper tip, which is knotted, trimmed, and melted enough to keep from unraveling- fairly traditional cow whip end. The fall is a single strand of waxed paracord tied on in a Snelling knot variant. The fall is 14" if I remember right, with a tapered Dyneema cracker around 12" I believe.
The handle is handcut Cumaru in 14" length.

Thank y'all very much!
Roger, I hope that answers your question on the a fall hitch. If not I can take some closer pictures of the next one I do if you like. The 4 plait is paired then tucked into one another creating two strands to twist. It's tapered by cutting the strands you threaded inside to staggered lengths.
I learned that here from Roy, pictures of other cow whips, and several older ones I've had the opportunity to repair.

Thank you all very much :)
Thank you Mr. Robert, you have been most courteous and patient! Perhaps Roger will come visit and bring a video cam!

To Robby, thank you for allowing me to use your idea, and what a fine name for the whip. That's a huge honor.

Philbert, I think the thong only looks black because of Rachel's Mississippi sunlight! :)

Great job Rachel! That stamp on the handle would definitely be of interest to future collectors.
