Roger, thanks! To be fair, that thong was my last one of the year of 2015, I just finally put it on the handle I originally intended as I just finished it yesterday.

Fritz and Ron, thank y'all. It is dark but I think it goes with the purpleheart quite well!
Ron my tester was tired last night and it was wet and cold, but we had previously tried out that thong (it's a test thong- note the gapping and twist on the end as David had seen when I posted it in the roll call (Great eye, David!) ) but from when he cracked it before Lonnie said the thong moved alright, you could tell a 10ft 14pl two belly was a bit better but this was a close second. About like the one I sent to Erik for the whip swap. I had to try it once, all I can say is it popped easy and didn't seem to pull so hard on your arm in a forward crack if that makes sense.

Efren, thanks! I think the purpleheart is really beautiful but a bit temperamental in that its splintery exactly how you described it to be! My favorite this far to work with is the Goncalo as it can be handled many ways

Thank you Mr. Robert! Yes Sir it's too fast for me, but I was very surprised, I thought I would have to make another. This one did just fine, rolls out straight and with the fall and cracker just like that it handles pretty nice.

Em... Er... Well it is made for pen work. So yes sir it is a calf whip, actually of sorts... For "indoors" exactly of that's what you call the chute
I have some pictures on my phone somewhere I will see about posting a few first chance I get!

Calf whip sounds about right. I prefer longer, heavier thongs, but would definitely crack this one if it was within arm's reach.

I wasn't quite sure where to put this as I didn't want to hijack someone else's thread, but like I have said elsewhere, opening a box from Whip Nation is like Christmas- check it out, love that wood grain on these 30" pieces of Goncalo Alves! There's a 15" handle I made yesterday for comparison, also Goncalo Alves. The two pieces of paracord hanging up there are both from Whip Nation, the one on the left is 650 coreless Acid Dark Brown and the one on the right is some new cord Roy has in 550 chocolate brown. Nice and soft, looks like it will plait up really good! I think when waxed it will look great with the Goncalo. I will try it out on the next whip I make starting this afternoon. Just like Christmas....

Rachel, and just think, you don't have to leave milk and cookies, not to mention having to clean up the reindeer poop off the roof.
