Roger your progress look great. I like your square start as well and you definitely don't skimp on the binding. Looks like James is going to be a very happy cracker.

Not enough binding has always been my bane. I pay more attention now to that part of the build process than any other.

I am also afraid that when i start my whip for Brandon - i will then end up making it so stiff that i will send a 2,5 meter long package from Denmark to Australia :-)

If there's such a thing as too much binding, I haven't met the mythical creature yet.

Guys, I've had an email from James saying that he has had to bow out of the swap. No worries on my part, I was quite happy as to his reasons.
Of course, this means that I now have a fully completed, about to be waxed 7' Bull whip looking for a brother (or sister) whip. Anyone fancy a swap?

Oh bummer!
I believe Craig was still unpaired.

Here're few more teasers
Second belly binding completed
Dropping strands the Bernie way:
Heel knot foundation - it's silicon self-seal tape. Sets rock solid:
And the heel knot itself - a mess of cord right now but just wait...
All the other pics are of the completed item. I'll post them up when someone takes James' place.

Roger, I like the colors on this one a lot.
A very good transition too.
It looks like a very solid whip that will break in to one that is really fun to crack.
Good job.
Is James not participating any more?

It's not waxed yet and needs a fair bit of breaking in as it doesn't roll out smoothly or crack easily - lots of binding to get through. I'll probably wax tomorrow or this weekend. See how that changes things.
Yes, James has had to withdraw from the swap so this one is going begging.

Roger, if no one wants to trade with you then you could be waaaaay ahead of others in the official yearly blind whip swap drawing.

It's looking really good, Roger, too bad about James having to pull out! D: Your whip is looking really nice and stiff though~
Good luck finding someone to swap with!

Craig, I would be honoured to swap with you. Would you like me to reveal the final piece in this thread so you can see what you'll be getting or prefer to show everyone yourself when it arrives? (I have pics ready to go up)

Roger, I (for one) pant to see - but I can wait if necessary!

Roger - I'll let you decide. I'll try to start yours this weekend if I finish the other one in time.

Thank you, Roger.
Is there a benefit to breaking it in before waxing? I've always just waxed it right away. Especially if I'm doing a concho or ferrule, in which case I wax it before that. For yours, I was going to wax it before the heel knot because of what I plan on using for it.
