Working to complete the thong of whip #22 by the weekend. This will be a 5’ 16 plait two belly epoxied into a turned wooden handle that I will hopefully be able to create Sunday afternoon.
Tapered twist core and first belly in 10 plait:

Second belly in 12 plait:

I still have trouble keeping tension when transitioning to TT… any suggestions?

Ethan, looking very good!

You can try to make the first segment (1-2 Inches) of the 4 strand TT super tight. After some rolling, this usualy creats an even "transition of the tension" (the tightness of the first Inches of TT will "pull" on the 4 plait strands during the rolling).

Just registered my truck for another year.
For the life of this truck , I'm sure all the fees having been paid are more than the cost of the truck. Gotta love government fees and regulations. :p

Any suggestions for the overly? The colors I have right now include:
Acid brown
Chocolate brown
A brown that is somewhere in between those
Black
Midnight blue
Red
A bit of green
Some gold
White

Ethan, for what it's worth, my vote would be for acid brown - especially with a wooden handle.

I will give that a shot next time. Thanks Ben!

In that case, Ethan, I'd go for whichever brown is more different from the 'acid brown' as the second colour - but definitely not white!

Well, after three late nights I have a completed 5’2” 16plait thong with a served english eye in acid brown. I don’t believe I have used this color cord yet, so I’m curious how it will look after waxing. I made a cracker out of some serving material to experiment. I don’t know what it is made out of.

Good job, Ethan.
It looks very much the business.

When it's time, let me know how it cracks.

I meant to show the plaiting pattern that I used. Image
I went over to a friend’s place this afternoon. He has a nice big lathe. I turned a few things. One I turned out of a piece of black palm, it was really annoying. Very splintery.

Two of the handles I turned were supposed to be cow whip style, but I wasn’t able to get the hole strait so I messed both of them up, so now they will be bullwhip handles :p
If I can get the holes for the spring steel straight anyway…

Ethan, that would require a far steadier hand than I have! And I imagine the fibrous nature of palm makes it almost impossible to work....
