News from Karaka!

Today I had contact with Carol from Karaka Whips in New Zealand. And there are some interesting news from them

The most people know Karaka as black whips. I always recommend them for beginners, but you know that already, right? Later on they came up with a yellow/black color scheme, called "wasp design". And now they created something new. Red & black. I don't have pictures, yet, but I hope, soon!

And for the folks who are interested in fire whips... Karaka's on the way to introduce a fire whip, on which you can change the thong without every time buying a new handle. Still no pic here, but I thought you might be interested.

These new ones - no. But I think, Carol's going to send me one or two whips, because I'd like to produce a review for whip tv, too. I cracked several of the Karaka whips, and all I can say is, that they handle very good. They are perfect for the beginner, because they are more than forgiving. I like them.

I normally try not to be too judgmental of others' work, but there seems to be almost no taper to these whips at all. Maybe I'm just seeing things?

Do they have a reputation for being well made whips? I've heard the name Karaka quite often, but have never seen pictures or any in action.

Ah, there is a taper... We talked about the Karaka whips sometimes here. I keep saying, that they're good for the beginner, who doesn't know if he/she's going to crack or quit, for example. The Karaka whips are not fancy or something. They're pure working whips. I've seen Karaka whips which were dragged all over the concrete and gravel. They looked like fuzzy snakes - but they cracked. A lighter, all over the whip (not good looking, believe me) and it worked.

There's a visible difference to a hand braided whip - sure. But - at least in my opinion - they're great tools.
