Thanks guys, and I will Roy. I've been waiting for the right thong to put that handle on and I believe this will do well.

Both of these whips look excellent, and the luster on that bloodwood is just gorgeous.

Alright, the whip is now waxed and will shortly be going to a roommate. The whip is very fluid and balanced towards the thong so it rolls out effortlessly and surely. There is still a very minor gap in the 4 plait section, but it is better.
Fresh out of the wax, and yes the fall was that stiff.

Roy, the color fresh out of the wax is absolutely phenomenal, but I unfortunately won't see this one wear down to color.
One thing that I love about the waxing aside from color changes, is that thong retains its fluidity despite feeling like it is as hard as nails.

Wow Devin, it looks even better than before. Love the under 2 over 2 right off the handle.

That's lookin good Devin. Just wondering, what is the material used on that grapevine coming out of the handle?

Thanks guys, I am quite happy with the result visually and functionally.
Roy, the grapevine service is done in 1/8" Dacron from Tyler. It plaits about half the width and thickness of Paracord.
Johnathan, that is my favorite way to come off a handle. It is simple but more sophisticated than 4 seam herringbone.

Ok I see thanks. Is there more binding between bellys or does that grapevine stiffen the transition on its own? I'm just curious because cow whips typically aren't bound, but I'm trying some serious binding on the current 12 fter I'm working on.

That most recent whip is astounding Devin! Absolutely beautiful. And I love the french service there at the handle! I've been considering using a french grapevine instead of a transition knot on my whips since I learned about the darn thing. Lovely work.

Thanks Terry, and I do believe I saw a bullwhip somewhere done with just the grapevine, or I may be thinking of Tyler's where he moves the transition knot back and puts a grapevine service on.

Roy, there is some light binding on the 1st and 2nd bellies, but I have been slowly gravitating towards less, especially with the longer handles as I personally think they throw better without the stiff transition interfering, but there is still some for wear over time. The grapevine in this case does more stiffening than the binding and makes up for the shorter handle. Grapevine by itself will stiffen the thong but if you want it smooth you ideally want some binding that tapers off inside of the thong.

Have to agree, that rust one is seriously cool. I like how the rust paracord looks when waxed. Also the grapevine gives it a nice touch.

Magnificent, Devin! I like the colour, the dacron, the grapevine, the English eye....

Yeah, Roy was definitely right about the Rust when it is waxed, it sure is pretty. The finer dacron cordage makes a nice grapevine as it is narrower and more of a spiral will develop over the same distance, and it smooths out easier.

Is dacron safe to wax or will it cause problems?

Thanks for the pictures, Devin. That whip doesn't only looks good. It has character! Big difference. The shape of the handle, the color of the thong - together with that grapevine/Dacron - is very classy. A Beauty.

Again - Thanks for sharing with us.

Roy, being that it is polyester it won't hurt it as the melting point of polyester is slightly higher than that of nylon. The flash point of paraffin wax is much lower so it should never present a problem.

Robby, thank you very much for the kind comments, I am quite proud of this one.
