Is every Whip Handler a Racist and a Pervert?
I put this here into the public thread, because it's possible, that some people will find this an interesting subject.
Or not. Or offensive, rude, insulting, honorable, true, political incorrect and so on. It's a video about the two things, whips are mostly associated with.
BDSM and Slavery.
It is next to impossible, to post something about whips, without having instantly stupid comments. Political correctness - or PC - became a monster in the meantime. Nobody dares to say what he thinks in public, because there will be always somebody who feels offended. Right? Well. I thought that it is about time to talk about that. In clear words. I know that some folks will hate me for that video. They will call me racist, Nazi (as usual...) and other things. And there will be people who will say: Great! Finally somebody who's got the balls to say it!

And? What do you think, hm...
Like the song?

Robby you did an excellent job with this video.
It helps to dispel the thought of whips in those terms as the only thing they are good for.
Oh, and I love that song. Especially when done with bagpipes.
It's a chill bump maker to me.

It's ok if you disagree with me.

Exactly. Well said, Robby. I have bloodlines from various places in my family.
Common sense and Reason, take care of the little ones, what grown consenting folks do behind closed doors is not my business to know or judge.
I think we all live with the heavy burdens and consequences from the previous generations' actions (war, pollution, etc), but that does not mean we are guilty of the same.
As you pointed out, Judge not.....
In regard to this,
I especially like the part that comes after (I am very loosely paraphrasing here!):
"And while you are so busy staring at that little wood shaving in your brother's eye, you completely missed the Redwood Tree in your own. Isn't that something....."
If we would have some thought and care in regard to others instead of assuming they are __???__ we would have a much better world I think.

Thank You for making this video Robby.
I can not agree more, but it is different to get into the the diskussions with people we meet.
Have I ever told about one sumer where a 12 year old boy borrowed my whip and made some fine cracks. A lady about 65 years old came to me and asked very low if that 6 footer could be used in a bedroom !!!
I had to tell her about the need of space for handeling such a whip - but it tells me what everybody thinks when seeing someone with a whip.
I is good to hear the the truth in clear words - Thanks

Robby, this video is perfect. Going out to do live events all the time, I hear all of the comments. It gets even worse when performing with a partner. I just cant stand the immaturity some people have when it comes to others using a whip. Jessie said it best when she said, and I am paraphrasing, "I'm supposed to be ashamed of my life choices, but people who hit the loved ones with painful whips can speak openly about it."
Now and then we had a hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be pirates.

A whip is a tool, just as a gun is a tool, just as a chainsaw is a tool, just as an acetylene torch is a tool. Any tool can be used to create a thing of beauty, or to destroy one. The difference comes is who is holding it and how they choose to use it.
As the de facto gold standard in the worldwide whip community, this group needs to ensure that we interact with those who may have certain misconceptions about what it is that we do and why in a calm and professional manner. We can only change their views through education and an understanding of what we do.

I'll give it a try, Dad, but it's going to be really hard...kind of like trying to saw something in half using a banana.

Nothing to add to the other comments.
I was outside yesterday test cracking the lilac and burgundy whip when my neighbour came over to see what I was doing. When she saw the whip, her first words were "I bet Kat loves that" with a kind of cheeky, knowing grin and sideways look. I knew exactly where her mind had gone... <rolleyes>

Robby, thank you very, very much for making this fantastic video (I like Amazing Grace)!
I think many of us had to deal with strange accusations during a whipcracking session in the past (I sure did): I remember that Jesse mentioned that he got called a racist after he performed at an event and a former member had been faced with a simular issue at his college.
I underline all of the points that you've made in this new video and all of us who love this sport will benifit from your video when another "racist/pervert expert" will approach us!
Also, the story about the whipmaker who decided to quit because he had wached a film about slavery (while keeping the money for his recent orders)...
If his true motive would haven been to quit because whips have been misused to torture slaves in the past, why would he want to keep that "dirty money" from his recent oreders.
Scott, I totaly agree!
Most people who owned slaves had been rich enough to afford horses and therfore very likely owned whips too. The fact that sick minded people had been using one of their tools that they owned to torure slaves says something about the owner - but it says nothing about the tool itself!
Ask any prison security guard what horrible things can be done when you combine a sick minded person and a "harmless household item" like a toothbrush. In this particular example no one would think that toothbrushes would be an "symbol of evil"(or the major part of the problem), but when it comes to whips, it's probably the lack of information that drives people into making prejudgements like "whip=racist/pervert".
All the best
Ben
