First men in the moon

Do you remember that movie? Where an crew, combined from a whole lot of nations land on the moon, and they discover an old british flag that says that the moon is part of the British empire and from now on is under the command of Queen Victoria. In the year of the Lord 1890. First they say: "That must be a fake!" But soon they discover that anyone must have brought it up there...

The film was made in 1964. Ray Harryhausen did all the stop motion effects and Charles H. Schneer was the Director.

It's a bit before my time, I have not seen it. It looks enjoyable enough for a 50 something year old movie.

My first sci-fi movie experience at the cinema was The Black Hole.

I tried renting a movie on Amazon recently, but apparently I reside outside the known Amazon universe and it would not let me even pay for it.
Quite frustrating because there are a few lesser known films on there I would like to watch.

Actually, I think I have read the book.
I always felt that Cavor and the Cavorite was a bit of a ripoff from Verne´s Zephyrin Xirdal and his Xirdallium.
Or should we say "inspired by"?

Never ever heard about that one which actually surprises me a little bit... Sounds like the kind of movie that should have been on TV in the 70s and 80s every other year. Like „The Time Machine“ (also based on H.G. Wells) by George Pal, that was one of my favorite childhood movies.

The George Pal version of the Time Machine is still one of my favorites. I hated the remake though.

Michael, for me it was the Morlocks that lived underground that scared me. I hated the glowing eyes in the darkness of the underground machine works.
Especially the one that decomposed with the time laps photography when he accidentally went into the future a little.
