The Dog Shelter Donation Campaign 2018 is over. A lot of great folks donated prizes. And a whole lot of people bought tickets. I know that we had way more tickets than prizes, but like I said before - the real winners are the doggies.

And here is the place for you to show your prize to the world! If you're able to do a little video, it would be fantastic


Thanks to all of you. Those who donated prizes, and to those who bought the tickets.

I really hope that a lot of people see this post and are badly embarrassed. All those great and beautiful Whip groups at Facebook. Hundreds of members. And not a single Cent for such a cause. Nothing for Dog Shelters, nothing for Children, Hospitals or Schools. It is enough for them to show and assure each other how fantastic they are. What great people and Whip Makers.

Whip Basics has only 36 members. And we donated year after year. Imagine how big the donations would be if those people on Facebook would move their asses and start such a thing.

From Mark, a beautiful masterpiece, the Red Dog. Here is the information from Mark's post:
"Here is Red Dog, my donation to the pups. It's an 8'8" (264 cm), 20 plait,nylon bullwhip of rust paracord with an 8 inch purpleheart handle, a TT core, 3 bellies, a 30 inch TT fall, and a 12 inch cracker made of Brownell Fast Flight Bow String. The transition knot is a Double Gaucho Knot of Two Passes from Bruce Grant's Encyclopedia of Rawhide and Leather Braiding. The whip weighs 2 lbs (907 g)."












This whip is plaited so beautifully; it rolls out straight as an arrow as well. It is a monster! So beefy and stout but moves so fluidly!

I really like the forward weight and the thickness pushed more toward the tip. The whip moves very well, like it is alive. It has a life of its own.
Mark, you should be VERY PROUD!!!!
You are well ahead of anything I was doing at this number of plaited whips. The knot is very well done and very fitting. The handle is very nicely made and finished! The purple heart matches very well, I love it!

I am so proud you signed this whip, I am very pleased to own it! The crackers are really nice and sharp sounding, and look like they will last a long time. The twisted taper fall is very well made, and there are no gaps or twists in the plaiting on the whip.
To me, it says solid, lively strength.

I've recived the whip which Robert donated
Dear Robert, thank you very, very much!!!




As Robert pointed out, it's a very lightweighted whip. I'll try it out the way it is and if I get the impression that a little more weight could improove the performance of the whip, I'll wax it. If waxing won't add enough weight, there is still the option of replacing the thong. I've never made a wooden handle bullwhip before (only wooden handle cow whips and stock whips), therfore it would be a very tempting project.
