Ron, you're right about the false sense of security.

From what I have heard if someone has a pistol and the other a knife the person with the knife has a 17 to 18 second drop on the shooter. That being said I wonder what that time might be with a whip vs. a knife or gun?

I've always thought , "You don't bring a knife to a gunfight." as sound advice.
The knife doesn't have a chance, unless you're in a movie.
