The Tasmanian Cutback from 5/8/2017 to 5/17/2017

Ok guys I was wondering what crack or drill we could do for the next challenge subject and it was suggested, and a good one by the way, to do the Tasmanian Cutback.

Now this one seems fairly difficult but so's everything in the beginning.

Here's a video from April Jennifer Choi.

Here's one from Adam W.

It looks simple but, as we have found out in some of the latest drills, looks can be deceiving.

I have a feeling that this one is going to hurt some in the beginning.

Happy Crackin' Y'all.

I've done this crack before. Probably one of my favorites. It's really fun to add into multicrack patterns. That being said, Ron you are right. This one can hurt really bad. I'll post a video very soon.

Thanks Jesse.
We, especially I, need all the help available.

I was wondering if the Tasmanian would make an appearance....
I have not tried this one for the reasons you both pointed out.
Weird thing is too, going by April's video, I should be attempting this with my left hand.. (The more flexible one)
This should be a doozy lol

I am more concerned with my shoulder.
Both have undergone rotator cuff repair.
I sure don't want to re-injure one or the other.
I will just have to see tomorrow how it goes.

Oh dang. I don't want to sound like your mother Ron, but please take care buddy!

I'll take it easy that's for sure.
Thanks.

Ron, it will be very interesting to see how people deal with this. I know for sure, however, that - thanks to the arthritis in my shoulders - there's no way I'm even going to try this! :P

Wow, that seems very difficult. I'll try t....

Do or do not, there is no try!

Yes, I'm sorry. But this one does require me to take out... THE HAT!

The only thing that is not really clear to me, April seems to keep a straight back and Adam bends over. Which is right? Or is it all the same?

Sven, I think that it depends on what is comfortable and easier for the individual.
April makes it look so simple, but I guarantee, it's not.
It might also depend on how flexible you are.

Ok. Thank you Ron.

I'm very flexible, always... :)

Sven, both work, and I've done both. I am a heavier set person, and can guarantee that both result in a crack. The one thing is, make sure you keep the handle of the whip angled out a little. By doing it, you don't run as high of a chance of catching yourself with it.

Ron, thank you very much for posting the tutorial videos !!!
I agree with Russell - please go easy on your practice and don't risk re-injuring one of your shoulders !!!

Jesse, I'm looking forward to see your video !!!

I've tryed to do the tasmanian cutback in the past a few times - without any success (I've tryed to do the bend over version).
On todays practice I've tryed to do the streight back version for the first time and it did actually work a couple of times :)
Although most attempts didn't work out I'm still very happy with the result of my day one practice !!!
I wasn't able to shoot a video of todays practice because of the bad weather conditions (rainy, windy weather) but I'll shoot one as soon as the weather conditions will improve.

My wife told me that I've looked like a young child which has been palying in mud after todays practice - very dirty and very happy :)

Happy cracking everyone !!!

All the best
Ben

Good dedication Ben.
I'm glad that it went well.

I have yet to do it because of a yard that needed mowing. I'm finally through now and can give it a go this afternoon.

Ben it sounds like you're doing it just right!mud fun!

I'm intimidated by this crack... I may stick with drills!

Well, I can for a fact say... it's really difficult. Ofcourse it's still day one.

I managed to make it crack, 1 out of 30 or so :D
It does feel rewarding when it cracks. It's difficult to get the handle straight behind my back, I'm not very flexible. I was joking about that.

We'll see where it goes from here, at least my wife had a good laugh when the whip hit me for the 20th time.

Jesse, you're right about bringing the handle a bit away from yourself, the whip doesn't hit me that much when doing that. Thanks

Sven, I just got it to crack once in the whole 10 minutes.
Holding the handle away did help but I still hit myself quite a bit.
It's very difficult.
I'm not sure I can continue but I'll see how I feel tomorrow.
