Ok whipsters, here we will practice the Victorian Cutback.
It will go from 4/7/2017 to 4/16/2017.
Here's Robby's tutorial:

Today's practice was productive, but only about 35% of the attempts were successful.
It's the timing and being consistent in the delivery to be able to rotate the handle at the same time in the throw. That's proving to be difficult.

It is a brisk yet fine autumn morning today. I got some practice in with Keyzer.

Ron, I find this one hard too.
My findings were like you mentioned, timing and also the speed you put into executing the wrist roll. They feel like the primary factors.
You may already know this but I found the crux of getting a crack from the Victorian Cutback is when you bring the whip up to the 10 o'clock position you can for a split second feel the whip at it's full extension.
That is the moment you want to roll your wrist. At least that is how I have narrowed down the timing.
Best of luck with your future practice.

Here's what I did on day one. I just now had a chance to upload it.

Boy is this really hard for me. I'll get it though.

Hey Ron,
Thanks for posting the video. Just trying to help here as a humble observer I noticed that that you appear to be bringing you arm up facing the wrong way. If you watch Robby in the video he says you need to bring your arm up like the underhand crack - (Palm facing forward)
It definitely would make it easier to perform the wrist roll that way (which is what I find the hardest)
Also if you could bring the whip up and delay the 'cutback' for a little bit longer I think that might produce better results...
Best of luck

Ron, that's not a bad start at all. It's better than I've ever managed with this crack!
I noticed, however, as Russell did, that you might pause a bit more before the 'cutback'. I think the whip needs time to 'relax' before it's reversed - but I speak here as an incompetent! :P

Russell, your technique looks very good - great job !!!
Ron, your video is once again a very good example for efforless and relaxed whipcracking (love it) !!!
My practice during the last couple of days has been a little frustrating - I haven't been stuggling with any other technique as much as I do with the Victorian cutback. My major problem is that I'm not getting the reverse movement right. Instead of doing the reverse motion in a vertical plane I'm very often going a bit "sideways" with the handle which in the end always results in a unwanted arm wrap. In order to get the hang of the reverse movement I've been practicing the reverse motion with a stick which worked fine. As soon as I tryed to do this crack with a whip, my stick practice seems to have vanished
Well - at least I've had three attempts on todays practice that felt "right" (clean crack an no uncontrolled whip motion/arm wraps).
All the best
Ben
