I'm glad to see the regular updates and hear that you guys are making progress.
Timing the 'cutback' is the hardest thing for me. That and keeping the rotation as vertical as possible.
Being fluent at the Victorian Cutback takes a lot of practice, I can see that. I too experience my arm getting wrapped by the thong every now and again, and untying knots in the fall or cracker.
All the best for your continuing progress gentlemen.

I'll blame it on the fact that I got hit pretty hard with the flu the last few days. We just had the remnants of another cyclone go over us but I couldn't stay inside anymore I wanted to get out and practice again with a whip.
It was a diabolical day today however I got some very nice cutbacks. I have managed to really slow it down and not be quite so fearful of the whip coming back in my direction but it was met with almost having to re-learn from scratch.
Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day!

Russel, that's the way to do it.
I'm glad that you are feeling better. I too get the "itch" to crack after being not being able to.
When this crack is done slower it looks so elegant and polished.
Great job. :)

I made a quick video today of some Victorian Cutback practice. This whip crack feels like a bottomless pit of analyzing and refinement. I am confident I am improving but I need more practice. Cheers.

Today's the last day for the Victorian Cutback.
I have made some fair progress but it's about 80% now. So I am pleased so far.

Russell, that looks heaps better (at least to me)! The first three cracks are the best: after that you're so aware of the dog that you're concentrating less, and I think you're more tense. But generally much more relaxed and confident. I notice this especially in your stance and the position of your left arm....

Ron, you're showing great improvement, too. But are you aware that you point the whip handle away from your body (to the right)? I think that's to do with the angle of your wrist. If you just turn your hand anti-clockwise a bit, it might make a big difference, and help you keep the vertical plane flat against the imaginary clock face....

But well done, chaps! As I keep saying, this (for me) seems the hardest crack of all. So far, I'm nowhere near your level of skill!

Thank you very much Robert! You are right I did lose concentration and fair to say the first few were the best. This is one technique which will need constant practice to keep improving.
Cheers :)

Russell, Ron, congratulations on your improvement !!!

I've keept on practicing this crack ever since but I'm still far away from getting constant results. Only about 50% of my current attempts feel like I've done it right but thats a huge improvement for me compared to first practice sessions.

All the best

Good stuff Ben. This crack does take some practice to get some consistent results.
It's definitely one that needs constant revision.
Congratulations on your improvement mate.

I really love this technique so I wanted to revisit it. I haven't practiced it much lately though.
It always blows me away how Robby gets the forward crack in at the end when demonstrating possible combinations :)

Thanks, Russell - but how I wish I had a garden that size to crack in!

(Having pointed it out, I think I can see the 'race track' Keyser has worn around the large shrub.)

Thanks Robert, The section outside is nice, but with neighbors on almost every side I try to keep the whip cracking down to a fairly acceptable level ;)
