The Cairo Crack from 3/17/17 to 3/26/17

Post by Ron May »

Today , the 17th of March, we will start the Cairo crack.
It looks very interesting.

There's a demonstration of what it looks like, but little instruction from Adam W.

This crack has the whip coming right back at you so please wear eye protection.

Happy Cracking, whipsters.

It was from Jessie's suggestion.
I think it's a good one too.

Had my first attempt of the Cairo Crack just now.
Slowly getting the hang of it, I'll do a clip tomorrow. I'm just going to start off with the easy going one without the "body English" as he calls it.
When you are used to doing the circus crack straight down, this is actually takes a little more concentration.
Have fun guys :)

Nice crack, and an interesting opener for a routine.
He makes it look easy doesn't he?
I'm not convinced by the excessive force he uses when cracking a whip, I think this could be done gentler with a little more finesse......
I'll have to try it first though.
Good luck on mastering this one and watch that whip when it comes flying back around, ...

No time for a first day video today but it's not looking too bad at this point.
I just have to remember to turn the wrist at the crack to bring it back to the left side to finish it.

I did actually find time for the first day video.
It still seems a little rough.

Hi everyone,
I noticed in the Adam Winrich clip he says the Cairo Crack was combined with the side-arm flick to create a two crack pattern.
I tried to incorporate that into this clip but I might just concentrate on the single crack from here on in.

I found it quite hard to get a clean crack so I will work on that.

Russel , good job. It looks like it's doing quite well.
It's not as easy as it looks but you did a good job with it.
The dog wanted to play too, in stead of being in the house. :)

I think he said that you could combine it with the side arm flick and later he said that you could combine it with many crack combinations and he proceeded to show off a little.
That's his style. But he's a showman so, can't fault him for that.

I think just the Cairo crack will do for now.

Thanks for making the video and sharing.

Wow the weather is really awesome today, I couldn't wait to go out and practice.
I took another couple of videos trying to do the Cairo Crack with some Indiana Jones dynamism so to speak.
I have to say after practicing nearly all my whip cracking in a somewhat static manner, it was quite new and harder than I thought to crack a whip while moving.
I also noticed that I am flicking the whip out more than bringing it down as Indy did in the scene. I will have to work on that.

Have a good day all!

Russel, I can just see you keeping evil at bay.
And to think Harrison got paid a lot for this.

Just to point out I exercised more muscle than finesse as I was trying to more or less accurately emulate the scene but probably should have concentrated more on the crack :P

Haha cheers Ron :) oh man what a job it would be, being a stand in and cracking a whip in the movies.... DREAM JOB!!!

Ron, Russell, both of you have done a great job on your first practice videos - congratulations !!!

So far I've only been able to practice the Cairo crack with a stick due to the stormy weather in my area but I can't wait to try this one out with a whip (thank you for this wonderful idea Jessie !!!).

All the best
