Thank you, everyone.
I just finished the overlay. Since the overlay starts at the transition, I've put on some E6000 glue to help hold it.
Tomorrow I'll knock out the transition knot and then wax it and then do the heel knot.
This is the most leftover wasted paracord that I've ever had on a whip. But it's better then running short.

If I can't run fast, I'll make slow look impressive.

Craig, you tease me with these partial shots of the thong!
Given the time it takes to post stuff overseas, I'm going to get yours in the mail this week. It's nicely rolling out now and I really hope you'll be pleased with it. I'll go out on a limb and say it's the best whip I've made to date (to be honest, I'm really please with the last three I've made...)
Can't wait to see mine!

I can show you more if you want, but where's the fun in that. ;pRoger Tuson wrote:Craig, you tease me with these partial shots of the thong!

I'm honestly starting to think that this whip may not get waxed. I don't think it will fit in the turkey roaster. I'm serious. This thing is MASSIVE! I believe that in many aspects this may be my best whip ever as well. The plaiting seems really straight and probably the stiffest I've ever done. The strand drops are really good, though not perfectly seamless yet. All of my whips have a slight hinge were towards the bottom where the hockey tape stops on the core and sometimes where the last belly end, but this one is braided so tight that is hard to see it. I'm even happy with the fall hitch this time, really clean with no core showing.
It's still not perfect, but I'm really happy with it. My biggest fear is how well it'll crack because of how stiff it is.
If I can't run fast, I'll make slow look impressive.

It may be giving away too much, but here's the overlay. I intentionally ended the yellows, then the oranges, and then the reds in order to give it the look of getting darker as you go down the thong, just light it gets darker as your line of sight drops down further on the horizon away from the sun.

I take back everything I just said. I finished the transition knot and took it outside for a couple of really easy and gentle overhand swings and the transition really loosened up. Possibly way too much. The good news is that it'll fit in the roaster now. The bad news is that I may have made a fatal flaw. I'll wax it and do the heel knot and cracker. Then I'll test it out, but I may have to start over from scratch if it turns out to be a limp noodle.
If I can't run fast, I'll make slow look impressive.

The transition is not an easy thing to overdo. Especially as your whips are kinda beefy, as I'm probably not the first one to say :P
Gotta say that I like those colors. The blue-orange contrast is pretty much as intense as it can get without being unpleasant like red-green. And the thong pattern looks really cool, wouldn't have thought so many colors could ever end up with much style to talk about. Nice work!
