One-on-one swap for Roger
I'm just finishing up the warrant officer whip and hope to start on Roger's whip today. I'll probably only get the core done today because I need to order a bunch of paracord. I've already ordered a 1000' spool of blue and one of grey/silver. I've decided to start using two different colors with like dimensions on the bellies so I can more easily see the braiding.
I've already given this whip a name: Sonoran Desert at Dusk. It's going to be eight feet long with an off colored handle and three bellies.

If I can't run fast, I'll make slow look impressive.

Erik - yep. I'm going to try revisiting what I tried on the Frankenwhip where the handle is actually the start of the third belly and the overlay starts at the transition.
Here's the inspiration for the whip. My friend/coworker who enters the same contests as me, and for whom I'm making the current whip, made it.

Awesome! I hope to finish by the end of next weekend, which is a four-day. I decided that I the ten colors had too many oranges and reds and not enough yellows, so I've ordered two more colors.Roger Tuson wrote:Thanks Craig. I've been gently breaking in your whip (just a few cracks at a time) and it's really starting to move well. It'll be having its waxing later this afternoon. Looking forward to our joint reveal of the finished builds.

Thanks, Robert.
Second belly done. Like I said, since I'm doing so many layers and because my plaiting has gotten tighter, I'm trying to forgo sinew and tape after the core in an attempt to keep the thickness down a little. This is my first time braiding directly over the ends of the previous belly without any tape to hold them down. I think the transition is pretty stiff.
The tape you see here is just over the core. There's no tape or sinew on top of the first belly.
