  Double 7ft Thick Snakes

Post by Brandon "Sparky" Lam »

Hey everyone! So one of my friends liked my heavy snake whip so much he asked me to make two of them! He hates the feel of handles, so snakes worked really well for him. These took me a while to make, but I'm kinda proud of them - 7ft, 20 plait, English eyes, and really thick handle knot :D

(I was a bit scatterbrained when I made these whips, totally forgot to take pictures of the construction, but here's the final product!)

And finally, I was talking about potentially 3D printing parts for the concho - I have done so for these whips, check it out!

(It's a little hard to see because I had the flash on, but it says "pyro") :P

Finally, here is a video of me testing one of them. Unfortunately because they're both with my friend now, I can't record a video of doing both at once XD

Brandon very nice work.
The red and black are always a good combination.
It does look heavy in the video and seems to crack well.
Objective achieved. :)

Red and black: my favorite color combination in whips. A really nice pair though. Beautifully made sir.

Morten, thank you! Unfortunately I won't be making one of these for our swap, but I'm considering making one for the official one if I'm able to take part :) Either way, I'm excited to play with one of yours!

Ron, thanks! They're definitely quite heavy, but because of whips like those, my lighter ones feel too light now! Need to work on a balance of practice haha

Thanks Robert Rachel and Jesse!

Very nice looking. I'd love to start making more snake whips myself.

Thanks Roger and Craig! The heels are definitely pretty big, but I absolutely love the feel of them, very chunky and solid :D

Jessie it could definitely be a thing, I'm working on more ideas with it!~

Very nice Brandon. They look very beefy and role out very smoothly. I really like that pattern also. Are they as heavy as they look? Great job.

Thanks Efren and Johnny! I don't have them with me so I can't weigh them, but i put a ridiculous amount of weighting (like literally triple weighting) in the shot load so I hope they're heavy! :P

Brandon, this matched pair of snakes that you've made looks fantastic !!!
I realy like the heel knots - they are very precise, the custom printed conchos make them very unique and they go very well with the pattern of the thong(s) - great job !!!

All the best

I've found snakes to very different. You get absolutely no leverage for the crack, but that being said, the large amount of weight in them really carries the Whip out for a good hefty crack. I've made a 3 ft, 6 ft, and 8 ft. I don't know if I would go any longer than the 8, due to the extreme flexibility of the whip. Of course, that's personal preference but still.
