Placing these pictures where they belong
Bringing them over from the "Making of" Gallery.

Robby Amper wrote:That was made for me. To be specific - it was made for the WB Meeting. I wanted to teach a way more elegant and slow way to crack a whip, than the usual "Machine Gun" style. "A Whip Crack...loud as a gunshot!" So I asked Rachel for a whip, that rolls out not only slow, but very slow. And I asked for a red fall, so the motion of the whip is even more visible. And on top I asked for some leather wrapping on the handle, because I needed a safe grip. Those who were with me at the WB Meeting could see that I hold the whip sometimes only with two fingers. Because if you know what you do - and the tool is from the highest possible quality - sometimes two fingers are enough.
And now the whip looks like this...
There will be more about that whip...

9’ 6”, It is 16 plait with two plaited bellies and a twisted taper core in saddle tan and black with fancy plait. The spring steel rod is 10” long, with an elk collar with a 9 part, 7 bight Turk’s-head knot on each side. The heel has a deer antler bur that is polished, and scrimshaw work done in Wolf Creek Whips brand, your initials, and number “001”, the first Wolf Creek Whips numbered bullwhip. I have made one prototype bullwhip in nylon, and one child’s bullwhip also in nylon. This is the first in the series of any nylon or kangaroo hide bullwhip marked and numbered.
The heel knot is a three pass two-tone 9 part, 7 bight Turk’s-head knot.
Here it is in action:

The first of a series I’ve made, #001 of a Wolf Creek Whips wood handled American style heavy type unloaded bullwhip. Featuring a single plaited belly with two bolsters and twisted taper core, overlay is 14 plait. A few fancy patterns throughout, with stair step on the handle. Length 6’ 3”, handle is Bloodwood 5”, epoxied insert of 1/4” spring steel, total handle length, a little longer than most American style bull whips, to transition is 10.5”. An 8 plait fall hitch. A quite nose heavy whip that cracks nicely. Color is saddle tan. 100% kangaroo hide inside out.
