Topic: Quick and Dirty Whip Target Post
Some rough pics of a rough build. I like making stuff, but I'm no craftsman. And for something like this, I didn't want to spend too much time on it. I just needed something to help me with my target practice. I also figured that there were others like me that need something quick and easy also so this might help.
Result, one afternoon, a trip to the building supply store, some sawing and drilling and voila!
Simple construction u sing 2x2 lumber and tri-joints. 3 arms, head and long torso, each covered with very thing gauge 2" tubing to help protect the whip during contact, vinyl tubing on the appendages as cutting targets inspired by the suggestion on the WBIII vid. Initially, when I put the arm hose sections on, the vinyl was too curved so I put in some pencils to straighten them out. By the time I got to the head section, I realized it would have been better to use a folded section instead. I have enough left that I can replace the arm sections, but I'll wait a bit.
Overall the whole thing is very light so it will require some weight placed on the base for additional stability. I could have built the base wider instead but I have some storage space limitations. Also, I used wing nuts on the arm joints to make it easy to undo the joint to let the arms fold for storage.
