I really like the idea of a replaceable ‚fluffy part‘ of a cracker.
However I‘m on the sceptical side when it comes to the idea of a tapered cracker improving the performance of a whip. I would really like to see a zoomed super slow-motion of the actual crack not only for this but any kind of whip.
Of course a good taper of the plaited part of a whip is bread and butter, but there is a transition to the fall with sudden change of weight/diameter and inner friction which should cause a sudden acceleration once the loop has rolled down the whip which sometimes is enough to make a whip crack even when there is no cracker at the end. (This happened to me a few times, the cracker had come off as it tore through the end of the fall and I was wondering why the sound of the crack changed). After the fall has reached its point of maximum extension another acceleration of the cracker will make the sonic boom.

it’s visible, that the loop doesn’t travel all the way down the fall and that the fall is moving in a rotational way around the point where it is attached to the thong.
So there is two motions, a loop-wave followed by a rotation around a fixed center.
Okay, my point simply being this: If the whip is not one piece absolutetely continuously tapered down all the way down to the cracker (like e.g. in a signal whip) I don’t think a tapered cracker is improving the performance or „crackability“ of a whip.

Wow that is a great video! The whip is faster here at the end because of its length, but I think the first two cracks show a similar pattern as in the volley video: The loop travels down to the fall which then snaps upwards and subsequently causing the crack.

It has english eye and just normal 550 cord fall, 2 gutted 550 cords inside each other.

One thing is sure: This is one great looking whip! I find it interesting, that the cracker is longer than the fall.
There is probably an optimal length of thong to length of fall to length of cracker ratio that might depend on the type of whip , thickness of the thong etc.
This can probably be calculated with a finite element computer analysis similar to the equations which where recently posted in the taper-thread. Only it’s even more difficult because in that paper they used a simplified model that didn’t take the points of unsteadiness (material, diameter change) into account that are located at the fall hitch and the cracker knot.
