Re: Rachel McCollough

Rachel. I just love your handles and some day when my skills has developed I need to have one. For me it is fantastic that handles like that can be made by hand. The engagement and perfectionism is what I enjoy when looking at the pics. Great whip

Re: Rachel McCollough

Rachel - it dont know WHO, but when I see the start of a new handmade handle, and get an idea of how big the work actually is, I allmost want to own every single piece of handmade art, in-sted of that industrial manufactored crap inclusive whips, whereabouts the transition is only a stel wire.

I can allmost feel the effort you put in it :-)

Re: Rachel McCollough

Pretty cool looking Rachel. I bought a rasp like that to work on the wood blanks I bought from Roy. It's amazing how much wood the thing removes.

Re: Rachel McCollough

Thanks Mark, I really look forward to seeing your work!  If you must do by hand, at least the rough part, the farrier's rasp is the way to go.  In a pinch I can do almost all my work with just that and sandpaper and drill for the hole.

Not all farrier's rasps are created equal, either!  Mine are retired from their first job.  There are some really great ones by Simonds.  At $50 range, the midgrade ones last a very long time.

Re: Rachel McCollough

I like the colors in the second belly! Is the overlay going to be plain red? That would look striking with the bloodwood handle.

Re: Rachel McCollough

Rachel, I can't decide which I enjoy more: watching you plait or watching you work wood.  Thanks for inviting us into your workshop!

Common sense is now so uncommon that it should be officially reclassified as a super power...

Ron, thank you smile

Ethan yes and thank you, full burgundy with bloodwood.

Thank you, Sven!

Scott, I sure do appreciate it!  I don't know which I enjoy most: plaiting, or working the wood.  Thank you!

If the previous pictures are anything to go by, which they certainly are, then this will be one good whip!
