I know that we are on volleys right now but in between trying to practice them I had another go at Lesson II.

Russel, that's looking very good.

Ron

I heard the other day that Starbucks was going to start selling cocktails along with beer and wine.
They found that it's getting harder and harder to get sober people to pay $12 for a cup of coffee.

Good job, Russel.

Well done Russell, your combo looks very fluid and accurate!
I also liked your overhead horizontal combo and you did a fantastic job keeping both cracks on the horizontal plane!

All the best

Russel, it is really motivating to see what training does

Re: Lesson II: 07/02/2017 to 07/22/2017

Thanks guys. The change hands crossover in particular took a lot of practice for me before it started feeling right. Bearing in mind there's always room for continual improvement, I feel like I learned a lot from this exercise.

Flemming, I agree. I've been reading Ron Edwards book on how to make whips and in one section it refers to whip cracking and how it is not the kind of thing that can be taught with pictures. You just have to practice.
However I've found these challenge threads and everyone's contributions including yours motivating and beneficial.  Thank you for that everyone smile and thank you Robby for making the exercise.

Enjoy your Sunday and keep crackin'!

Russell, that's all coming along very well. (I find it a bit dark to see very clearly; nevertheless....)

Hi Robert smile I was just thinking about you yesterday smile
Thank you sir.  I think I need a camera person to film the video for me or find a better location. Sorry about the lighting issues.

It will only get better from here.

I was out so i tryed this after too long time.
Bit too windy for a whip this light.
My right hand has gotten really dumb.
Stockwhips are not for me, i have to feel it roll.

Re: Lesson II: 07/02/2017 to 07/22/2017

Jyri, I agree: I want to feel the whip roll out. A light stock whip doesn't give that feel - but then a light bullwhip doesn't, either. I like weight!

Re: Lesson II: 07/02/2017 to 07/22/2017

Who can do volleys?  I am trying to do them with 2 whips.  I just get going and the whip will kind of wrap around my arm.  I try to conciously make a point to tilt the handle to the outside of my hand grip, but for some reason I'm still getting the wrap around?

If you fall, I'll be there.

Funny you should mention volleys, I was trying them yesterday with my bullwhip.
I still find it hard to maintain a consistent rhythm and they seem to peter out after about 4-5 cracks.  To be honest I haven't really concentrated on them yet.
Nice work in your videos Jyri! I share your sentiment about stock whips. I find them harder to handle too.  I'm trying to resist the urge to just return to my bullwhip and stick with figuring out the intricacy.
