Topic: A Bull Gator in process

I had planned to make this fundraising whip into a traditional Indy style bullwhip, but I can't stand it's nakedness so a short wood handle is getting attached. With the help of my little serving tool friend I now have a stout foundation to work with. Time for an overlay. This will be the first whip that I ever plait in a vice

Roy, the curve of that thong looks about as perfect as it gets!  smile

Thank y'all! Mr Robert I tried hard to get that stiffness just right. Here is a sneak peak. The couple inches of checkerboard plait will be covered by the wood handle. The colors are hunter green and chocolate

Those colors are going to look sharp together, and your binding sure does look perfect!

I'm going to repeat myself. Again. Every time, I think there is no more possible (good looking!) combination of colors, someone brings up something new. Here it's Roy. That looks great, Roy. The color and the transition! And it's good, that you add a bit of the old Roy Partin magic to that one. I'm curious for the finished whip!
