Topic: One-on-one Whip Swap - For Charlie

Alrighty, here we go : )

The core build process is similar to my previous builds so I'm not going over them again here.

So it's going to be a 7 footer, 8 and 12 plait bellies with 16 plait overlay ending in a 6 point hitch and a lead line weighed fall.
The handle is 8". For a shot bag there's 6mm BB's up until 12", and regular 4,5mm until 24" down the thong.
This - for my habits - is a short shot load. I'm interested to see how it feels, I'm pretty positive on this one!

Here's the core. I decided to closed-loop bind the whole length of the shot load to give it some structure:

I'm also already done with the overlay, but won't reveal before Charlie has the whip in hands!

I'm also short of the heel- and transition knots. My gf's in town so it wont be until couple of days 'till I get back to it : )

Also, I ended up doing a regular doubled paracord fall instead of the weighed one. This didn't seem to have enough meat down the thong to handle such a heavy fall!

I look at everyone's binding on their second bellies and wonder if I am an over-binder.  Maybe I have a problem and need rehab.

Due to rising costs, dirty deeds are no longer done dirt cheap.

Jessie, I look at these whips and wonder if there's enough binding. I tend to do two-three times as much as Erik, and much further down the thong too.

Well, I've recently shortened my binding since I got an adverse effect - which I descibed very scientifically elsewhere - where binding created too long and stiff lever which gave unnescessary burdain to the actual transition.

In this whip the binding is very sufficient to protect the transition and created following Charlie's idea of having the loop to be created close to the handle.

Erik, my compliments to your work - the plaiting is very accurate and the taper looks superb !!!

Ever since I recived Mr. Patins dog shelter donation whip I'm also a big fan of a whip with a quick forming loop. I used to do several layers of binding on each belly for the entire legth of each belly, but I'm currently doing shorter bindings on the "last belly" (=the belly directly underneath the overlay).

Would be interesting to make a few whips only bound once but on different layers to see how  each binding effects. Is binding on the core as effective as binding on the last belly etc.

Charlie, that would truly be taking one for the team.

There's 3 tapering layers of very tight closed loop binding on both bellies and two in the core.
