The forward (flick) crack from 1/15/17 to 1/24/17

At the request of the members, the 10/10 challenge has its own section now. Every 10 days a new thread will be opened for that particular exercise.

I thought one of the the things the video pointed out specifically was that the whip is behind you?

Here ya go Tristan.
It starts at 4:00.

Robby starts the forward diagonal, same as the forward crack but done at an angle, with the whip in front.
This might make it easier for you. :)

Thank you Ron.

I did 20 minutes today and had some real cracking success. Part of the time was just me spent swinging the whip close to me to get comfortable having it move by me without touching me, as I notice I still have a tendency to duck.

I think my confusion has come from the YouTube video posted at the top of the thread, where that instructor made a distinction in form, saying that the forward crack is not as elegant and is more of a slashing down rather than a push forward, but in the video by Robby it obviously is the FC.

I have 10 more minutes for this crack tomorrow. I stopped 10 minutes out to check the videos again (I got it at work and couldn't check while there, and I go straight from work to the park) to help refine after watching it.

Finished it and managed to get some rhythm down today! I experimented a bit with the cross over, as well, but naturally that will need a lot of work yet.

Congratulations on your progress Tristan !!!

Quote from Tristan:"Part of the time was just me spent swinging the whip close to me to get comfortable having it move by me without touching me".

When I'm trying out a new technique I'm always staring my practice like that - it's a very good way to avoid getting hit by the whip and it's also very good for developing a "feal" for a certain technique in my opinion.

All the best

Ben, you are absolutely right.
It also teaches you how to "feel" the whip as you practice and throw it.

Today I did some work on the forward crack. I also really like "the forward vertical" as Daren Wilkerson calls it. I haven't been using this crack very often lately, I need more practice to hone in on getting it right.
It was such a nice day I thought I would use my coral snake whip :) Apart from a gentle break in it's hardly been used!

Russell, it's good to have these videos - but because you stand in the shadow, they're quite hard to see. Could you stand more in the sunlight, please?

Russel, that's looking good.
You might be using just a little too much "force" or muscle.
But over all it looks like you are getting your skill back in line.

Thanks Ron, you're right. I imagined what Daren was saying in the video about the forward crack having a cutting motion and I took that a bit too far.
I'll work on introducing some finesse with this one.
Cheers :)

Thanks Ben. I was going to post another on Sunday but the weather did not cooperate with me.
I'll practice up on the FC and hopefully improve by the time I post a video.
Have a good one mate :)
