Topic: Whip autopsy, 90's Australian 'roo hide

This afternoon I'll be taking apart my first and only whip. I purchased it online in 1997 or so, from an Australian saddlery company who's identity has been lost over the last 20 odd years.
If memory serves it's a 10 foot twelve plait, and I paid around $200.00 is so for it.
When I first bought it I re-plaited the final 6 inches before the fall hitch as it was very loose, and I whipped the handle to body transition too. It was too floppy at that point.

It has served me well, but it's time to retire it. It's too light and doesn't reward good technique. To pop it you need to throw it and then time a pull back as the whip lays out.

I'm ready to see what's inside, and to buy something better made.

It sounds like a entertaining autopsy.
I do hope you'll have some photos and descriptions of what you discover.

The Cairo Crack is the only crack I can think of at the moment that
even comes close to a "pull" or "jerk" back needed in the throw.
It just brings the whip over the left shoulder to finish so it's not really a "pull back".
Doing the "towel crack" is never a good idea.

Yesterday I spotted an albino dalmatian.
It was the least I could do for him.

Do I need a hosting sight to post pictures? The bike forum I'm part of let's me post from my phone, but I'm not seeing a "from device" option here.

Matthew, I use Imgur. I think most of us here do, but I'm not certain of that.

Diagonally parked in a parallel universe.

There is no image hosting on this forum, I'm assuming to help keep costs down. http://www.whip-basics.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=5865

Practice does not actually make perfect; Perfect practice makes perfect.
