Re: My whips this far

I've never handled  stock whip but that does look very nice, Jyri.

Think for yourself, act for everyone.

Re: My whips this far

Very nice Jyri! If you are looking for a slower roll-out, like Mr. Robert says, you might try doing a sixteen plait thong and a bit heavier handle. The Rachel Stock prototype I have for example is by no means a fast stockwhip, it rolls out nice and slow.

Really good job Jyri.
It flows nicely.

Yesterday I spotted an albino dalmatian.
It was the least I could do for him.

Re: My whips this far

Thanks!
16plait thong would be very heavy i think.
This one has 8plat belly and 10 plat overlay.
When i waxed it it became a bit nose heavy but not too much i think as it's not putting too much preasure to my wrist.

I have been thinking about whip types and snakes and bulls are the ones i like more.
I tought i could make some kind of hybrid between them. 3 bellyes and short handle with long stiff transition area.

Re: My whips this far

I never make a stock until now but I think yours rolls out good. Like you say, maybe it's getting better when it's waxed.

Re: My whips this far

That looks great, Jyri.

Don't panic...

Re: My whips this far

Jyri, that stockwhip looks amazing! How'd you get the english eye to work? Did you plait from the tip? And if so, how did you have a keeper as well? smile

Give a man a fire and he's warm for the day. But set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life.

Re: My whips this far

Thank you!
I plaited first belly(8plat) with 4 strand keeper and the overlay from the tip. I binded the overlay just before the keeper.
If i would do another one i would make lighter core and give it some swell after the keeper. It would help to hide the swell from binding the overlay.
Other than that quite happy with it, maybe battlecord keepers for next one.

Whip number 23: 10ft bullwhip with 2 plaited bellyes
This one really fought me in every step. I still have to take it to sauna with me to get rid of that flaking.

This is splendid, Jyri! Really elegant!  smile

Re: My whips this far

Jyri, I really like the sleek look of it.
It looks like a good combination of being light and slow at the same time.
How does it crack?

Re: My whips this far

Very sophisticated styling on this whip, it is a beauty!

Inch by inch.

Transition could be longer but whip this long is never going to be fast. With flicks you swing it and wait and wait big_smile

Re: My whips this far

It really flows Jyri.
I like the way it rolls out in the Amper roll out  test. I would give it a 9 on the Amperage scale.
Good job.

Re: My whips this far

Excellent job, Jyri!, the gaucho plait on the handle looks great. The whip rolls and cracks beautifully. i'm still amazed that you can crack it on that ice. I'd be flat on my ass after the first one.
