I need more patience.
I seem to be so used to be doing the circus crack that I don't wait that extra bit longer for that loop to form.
When it feels like I am getting it right, the thong is all over the place.
More focus on this crack will see me through.
Off topic I seem to be getting somewhere with the Victorian Cutback.

Robert, Matt, I'm crossing my fingers that the weather will be whipcracking friendly on Sunday and I'm wishing both of you lots of fun !!!
I've started todays practice by trying to do the 10 crack combo...
Not just the right timing but also the right technique for each crack had been terrible on my first attempts of doing this combo. I therfore decided to practice two cracks of this combo in a row to get the hang for the right timing/technique (underhand crack and fast figure 8, fast figure 8 and circus crack and so on).
I've also tryed to do the "forward coachmans crack" (crack #8) seperatly and my results had been very inconsistent.
Nevertheless I'm not frustrated since I got to try out my new neon orange practice whip for the first time which has been lots of fun

Good videos, I empathise completely with you when you were shaking your head. I'm very similar when feeling the frustration too.
Whip cracking really is a good way of teaching patience I have found!
I honestly thought that was a very good first attempt mate! Well done. Thank you for sharing your videos and I look forward to seeing more of them.
The fast figure 8 is my weak spot as well, which is partly why I didn't participate in the figure 8 combo cracks. I'm still trying to master those. Robbie said act like you are opening a book, but it doesn't seem to be working for me.
That said, I'm going to see what I can do here.

Tristan, the "opening a book technique" is also new for me (I've seen it for the first time in the video which Robby made on the figure 8 cracks) and I need to practice it a lot more to get the hang of it but as long as we keep on practicing regularly well get the hang of it sooner or later !!!

We are doing the 10 crack combo that is featured in Whip Basics Vol II.
But if you want to introduce them in the"Video" section that would be cool.

Here is my first attempt at the 10 crack combo.
I spent a couple of hours walking the dog this morning learning the Coachman's Crack. I feel i'm on the right track, but need more practice, to be sure.
I was so worried about the Coachman's Crack while attempting the combo the other cracks suffered a bit and are a bit sloppy but hopefully the only way is up from here.

Today's practice was a huge work in progress.
I have to hold a piece of paper in my left hand while doing this so I can remember the sequence.
My coachman's crack is getting confused with a sort of circus crack thing.
And the cross over is lacking spunk.
It has a very long way to go.

I totally understand the confusion Ron.
This is where muscle memory can work against you.
It felt for me that some cracks which feel like a natural transition from another have to be in-learned in a way.
I broke the sequence into 2 parts.
First of all I tried to do a reverse circus to Coachman's, then the horizontal / opposite horizontal finish.
Once I more or less felt comfortable with that, I practiced the lead up to the reverse circus a couple of times and then tried to blend the two together.
I hope this helps.

I've never used this whip in one of my videos before since it's more or less new (I've made it before I caught the flu). I'll post more detailed pictures of this whip in the "whips" section of this forum.

I like the idea of having a whip which shows up well on camera (just like Morten's neon green bullwhip and Robby's neon orange Pumpkin whip) and therfore decided to make the next whip for myself in a neon color (thank you Morten and Robby !!!).
