Topic: 10 Cracks In A Row. 2/25 to 3/6 2017

Tomorrow the 25th will be the first day for learning 10 cracks in a row.

The underhand > fast 8 > cross over > rearward part of the slow 8 > forward coachman's > opposite horizontal (sidearm) > finishing with the overhead / horizontal crack.

Here's the example of the combo sequence.
It starts at 7:04 in the timeline of this video.

Matt has let the cat out of the bag! He and I will be meeting up on Sunday morning.

I haven't been on the Forum much today, as I've spent a lot of today trying to find a good place for us to crack on a Sunday morning, which is near enough to both of us to minimize travel time. The population of the Tyne and Wear area is just short of 2 million. The whole area is very heavily built up, but there are some whip-friendly spots. I think I've found one that will work for us - but it can only be accessed by car. A report will follow!

Mr. Robert, I can't wait to hear all about it.

Ah dear, I didn't know it was going to be a surprise! Well, now it's out there we can talk about it at least smile. Robert's been diligently scouring the entire city and more besides for a decent spot, he deserves a cup of tea at least.

I'll try and take some video for you all. Properly horizontal and at a good distance, this time tongue

Matt, that's an excellent thought! I - technologically living in the dark ages - hadn't even thought about bringing my camera!

At the moment, the forecast seems to indicate dry weather. When Roger and Fritz came to visit me about eighteen months ago, it poured unremittingly the whole time!

Fingers crossed for dry weather! My whips wouldn't be too hurt by a spot of rain and mud but I'm guessing you'll want to bring a leather one or two?

Have to be honest, crack number 8 is going to be the hardest thing for me.

I haven't got the coachman's crack yet.  Hopefully I can pull it off smile

Re: 10 Cracks In A Row. 2/25 to 3/6 2017

The coachman's crack is going to be even harder than we have been practicing.
It's to be done in a forward angle in stead of straight up to make the combo work.
I'm going to see how that's going to be tomorrow when I start my practice.

Yes, I noticed it is extended outwards rather than upwards.
I hope you wont mind if I post Robby's link, just as a reference. I found this useful.  It shows two variations of the coachman's.

Thanks.

Re: 10 Cracks In A Row. 2/25 to 3/6 2017

This challenge should be a good one.  Not only will we be doing a lot of practice, but I have a feeling I am going to be getting some practice doing some sound editing, removing all my searing from the clips as I attempt the Coachman's Crack hehehe smile

The coachman's crack wasn't very hard for me to learn, yet I am still struggling with the Fast 8. It seems to be my Achilles heal. Mr Robby is right about using hearing protection while practicing the coachmen.  It is a must if you value your hearing because of how close to your ear it cracks.
