Re: Figure 8 combinations 2/14/2017 to 2/24/2017

You are definitely getting better Russel.
Nice extended combination. It might be what Mr. Robert is seeing is the wrist loop sticking out on a couple of overhead throws.
It too looked to me like you were griping the handle, but upon further review it might be that loop I am seeing.

Good Job.

But, as I said, Russell, I can't see exactly what you're doing now! smile

It does look, though, as if you're clutching it very tightly. Try to relax....

Thanks Robert, I was aware of what you said, I found it interesting though because since starting to crack and being conscious of holding the knot and not the handle, I have concentrated more on the thong and not how I was holding the whip.
It was good that you brought that up though. It was a good reminder to try and be aware of everything I thought.
I'll remember what you said about how tightly to hold a whip too.
Thank you gentlemen for your continued correspondence and guidance smile

Thank you for sharing your practice video Mr. Jones and congratulations on your progress !!!

I've noticed that you tend to move the handle of the whip to the 9 o'clock position instead of the 12 o'clock position when you're doing the circus crack.

Today's stormy weather forced me to practice inside my appartment (again sad ). I can't wait to have an outdoor practice again since I've practiced several new combinations on my stick practice and I want to see if can do those combinations with a whip.

All the best
Ben

Ben, I hope the weather cooperates with you soon.
The " Stick of Death" is a valid visualization tool. It works for me.

Looking good Russel. That's quite a long whip too.

Re: Figure 8 combinations 2/14/2017 to 2/24/2017

Hopefully this weekend I'll get a video in. I could do one with a shorter whip maybe,.... my little backyard is pretty tiny but it should be alright.

Re: Figure 8 combinations 2/14/2017 to 2/24/2017

I notice I am finding the reverse circus harder to pull off all of a sudden. I need to break that down too.

Re: Figure 8 combinations 2/14/2017 to 2/24/2017

In my practice today, I got to play with some wind... yea!
It's coming along but it's far from where I want it to be.

Tomorrow is the last day for this part of the challenge.

The next on Vol. II is "10 cracks in a row" which we will begin on 2/25 and end on 3/6
I will have to review the CD again and see which cracks this might contain.

I will post the results and the new topic and start a new thread for this one.

Today is the final day of the Figure 8 combinations.
I had a lot of fun in the wind again. smile

Here's the video from day 1.

Here' the video for day 10.

There's some improvement but the rear part of the slow 8 still is not being done right, in my opinion.... among other points as well.
It is indeed a work in progress and will continue in the future for sure.

Ron, it's not perfect (yet!) but it's really coming along! Your perseverance is absolutely commendable -a fine example and a real inspiration to all of us! (And I am deeply envious of you having your very own space in which to practise!)

Mr. Robert, it is indeed a luxury to have a practice space at home.
I do tend to take it and the weather for granted.
I am blessed in so many ways.

It looks great to me Mr Ron. I agree with Mr Robert, you are definitely an inspiration. Thanks for all you do. I am still not consistent with the fast 8 I can do it but I can't do it well enough to transition in to anything else. Still a work in progress.

Re: Figure 8 combinations 2/14/2017 to 2/24/2017

Thanks Ron.  You can see a definite improvement between the two clips.
Ten days goes so fast!

Onto the 10 crack combo!

For such a long whip that's looking nice. That "Tank" flows well.
You have improved and that's the point of this whole exercise. smile

Russell I can see an improvement as well. The whole combo just seemed like the transitions were more fluid. I liked that you came back and showed a different view on the second video. Thanks Russell.

Thank you Ron smile

The whip is an eight foot Keanu Shimaoka 'Indy Whip'  It has been a very trustworthy and reliable tool to date.
