Re: The Coachman's crack 2/4/17 to 2/13/17

Thanks Robby,
This was one of the crack Robby corrected me on when I visited him in Munich. Good lessons stick...

Re: The Coachman's crack 2/4/17 to 2/13/17

I'm glad you suggested that, Fritz, because I was confused as to where to start would be the best for this crack. I've been experimenting with both, but I'll keep this in mind as I start with the whip behind me. :-)

Re: The Coachman's crack 2/4/17 to 2/13/17

I found Robby's clip very useful.
It could be because of the way I am attempting it, but what I found frustrating was the fact that I am using quite a long whip and the momentum when forming the loop was somewhat lost when trying to form the loop.

In the interests of further research I am posting this clip from Adam Winrich demonstrating a Coachman's Crack with an 8 foot whip.

I found some information in this clip very useful.

Thanks Ron smile  I hope it wasn't too ridiculous for this thread.

Just in case I put it in the Clips & Videos thread also.

Hi folks, I thought I would revisit a few techniques in the hope I have improved and keep improving.  I did some work on the Coachman's today.

Re: The Coachman's crack 2/4/17 to 2/13/17

Well done, Russell - especially using such a long whip. (Is it 8-foot or 10-foot?) I can see that doing this crack with a longer whip has one big advantage: the crack happens farther away from the cracker's ear!

Re: The Coachman's crack 2/4/17 to 2/13/17

Thank you Robert, it's an 8 footer.
It is nice to have some distance from the sonic boom!

Very good job Russell, your revisited coachmans crack looks as good as you would have never stopped practicing it ever since we've covered it in the 10/10 challenge!

All the best

Re: The Coachman's crack 2/4/17 to 2/13/17

Last night we watched WB beginners guide vol 1. As Robby says in the beginning "don't build a Castle on sand, but be sure the foundation is stable" and "go back and refine your cracks every now and then. Today I exercised with the coachmans crack.

Please leave a feedback - I need it and I  appreciate it smile

Good job, Flemming. That one gives me a lot of trouble, especially with the left land.

Here's some other good tutorials for this crack.
Like Robby's they cover the same basics of this crack.

Re: The Coachman's crack 2/4/17 to 2/13/17

Well - it looks like the whip April and the other lady uses have very little transition - but I will try to let the whip form the loop

99

Re: The Coachman's crack 2/4/17 to 2/13/17

I think that's key.
You might have to help the whip form the loop by "pumping" your arm a little.

Re: The Coachman's crack 2/4/17 to 2/13/17

Flemming, like Mark, I find this one quite tricky. Sometimes, it seems fairly easy- and at other times, it seems almost impossible. I should perhaps pay more attention to which whip I'm using for this crack....
