Re: This is the Gallery of "Wolf Creek Whips" - Rachel McCollough

Sorry, concur. For some reason my autocorrect is going nuts

Re: This is the Gallery of "Wolf Creek Whips" - Rachel McCollough

Love autocorrect!  Thanks, Grant!

I had wanted to keep as much strength as possible on the handle but just couldn't stand it... I had to take more stock off of the exterior of the cup.  It looked to me like it was snub-nosed.
So here's the skinnier version:
Note to self, make these decisions before you glue in a thong wink

Rachel, I thought yesterday that it looked a bit snub-nosed: this is a great improvement! Much better!  smile

Thank y'all, I believe in function over fashion but it never hurts to look better too!

It looks great Rachel!  Did it affect the balance when you slimmed down the cup?  I really like the Bird's eye on the thong, to smile

Re: This is the Gallery of "Wolf Creek Whips" - Rachel McCollough

Thank you very much, Tyler!  Yessir it did but in a good way, the ash is hard but fairly light (compared to Goncalo or heavier Bois D'arc).  The thong is also quite light...
In my opinion it didn't feel right before, not fully alive.  It is much better now.
I'm still surprised how such small adjustments can make a very big difference.

It can be very surprising what fine tuning can do smile

Looks good! Ash is pretty darn strong for it's weight being the traditional wood for baseball bats and medieval polearm hafts, so I bet you're still good to go strengthwise.

Thank you Efren I have a lot to learn smile

Here's a couple Acid Dark Brown 8' 6" single belly 14 plait cow whips with 15" handcut Goncalo Alves handles.  All material from Whip Nation.

Rachel, those are lovely! So sleek, so professional - they just cry out to be held and cracked! I love the combination of thong colour and wood colour. Well done (again)!  smile

The wood handle goes so well with the acid dark brown thong it kind of looks like a leather whip in the picture.

Rachel, you've got this whip making thing down.
Every whip looks really good. In a very short time you've become a whipmaker of note.

Re: This is the Gallery of "Wolf Creek Whips" - Rachel McCollough

Rachel...that new avater picture is wonderful. You should use that as portrait when you start to sell your whips officially, sometimes. And the whips themselves - great work. Allow me to say that this community (okay, at least a few members) were helpful to you to become the whip maker you are now. That is a wonderful example what happens when people work together instead of only showing off how great everybody is.

Congratulations, Rachel. And - not to forget - congratulations to Roy, who's Whip Nation became a fundamental part of whip making within no time!

Rachel this pair looks spectacular. Your work looks more refined each time you post. Thank you Robby for the support. I take great pleasure in helping whip makers get the material they need.
