From what I've read in 'How To Make Whips' (p101-102), this looks like a blacksnake: a heavy snakewhip designed to be reversed and used as a club.

I know what you mean, Ron, most of it's about the state of your mind when you practice. If you're tired, irritable, or preoccupied oftentimes the whip will just refuse to do what you want it to, and other days when you're feeling more at peace it'll fly true.

Thank you Robby, Robert, I'm going to put it down to my youth :). This drill will help me with the Tasmanian Cutback, as it's helping me develop more awareness of how the whip thong moves when I can't see it, and at unusual angles.

I think I'm starting to get to grips with this one, my main problem is contorting my wrist when I come out of the crack. I need to work on not hitting the whip on the floor, and not doing a weird wrist motion to prevent that

Both thongs look good Jyri, and I'm glad you got it sorted out weight-wise. Stockwhips are finicky buggers compared to bullwhips :P
