Yes, David, my Internet hiccuped :) Or my phone screen was too sensitive! The pollen and dirt on my hands, phone, etc didn't help either, I'm sure. Definitely the twist I'm very unhappy with, I had it hung at a low angle from the back of a chair but will have it up high next time. If most of that is...

Thanks Roger for the explanation. It makes sense, and after reading the linked thread, I will wax the next whip I make. I have coconut oil, and beeswax is readily available here. I know it adds hardness to my soap when I add it and coconut oil to my recipe.

I have a full 2"x8" I used on rolling the belly on the floor is what I had available. I will definitely use a higher strand count for this diameter next one, would the angle of plait not be steep enough (less than 45degree) from pulling up away too much to tighten? I'm paranoid about cover...

First Whip-almost finished

Hi All, here's what I have been working on, 4.5 ft. snake, almost finished. Bb. loaded paracord core, 8 strand belly, 12 strand overlay. Next one I hope to be much smoother without the lumps. Or not as many lumps... We will see how it cracks. http://i1028.photobucket.com/albums/y349/RachelMcCollough...

Obviously I'm new to whip making and know nothing about waxing one, but I know a few artists who source beeswax (which is not white of course)for encaustic work from their local bee keeper- a lot cheaper than stores most of the time. And any place that sells canning supplies for preserving produce w...
