Well, I didn't get as much progress as I had hoped, but I am starting on the overlay tonight. This one's going to be a beast, even compared to my previous whips.

Thank you, Mark.

I know, second false start. Things have finally settled down enough that I can hopefully knock it out during the four day weekend. I actually don't have anything planned this weekend other than two races and putting up Christmas Lights, so I should get it done. ;)

Sorry for the false start, everyone. I finally got around to doing the first sinew wraps. Hopefully I can work on the first belly Tuesday. Honestly, though, I may have to trash this one and start over. When I was doing the first couple of tape wraps I developed a spiral ridge on the handle. I was ab...

Thank you. I pulled on the core last night and it popped apart. So I crammed in more epoxy and let it set overnight. Now it's strong enough to hold together when I pull as hard as I can. I did a better job cutting and sanding the wire rope so that it went inside the gutted rope much easier. Used a t...

Thanks, Matt.

Finally got off my duff and started the next Frankenwhip. Pieces cut and epoxied.

I haven't made a new whip in a while. I made a quick one for my daughter's teacher, but didn't post pics as it was pretty standard. I need to make a new Frankenwhip for Robby, but I haven't started yet and there is a very good reason. As I'm sure most of you realize, if you try to make a whip with a...

Roger - you can put Flemming's whip in one hand and mine in the other and then your arms won't end up different sizes.

I've contacted Raplh and will be sending his whip this week. I've also contacted Ethan and am waiting for a price quote.

Mark - I think all of your whips look very good. You quickly solved your gap issues in your heel knots, which I still can't fix after 30+ whips.

Jyri - over every layer I do a flat continuous wrap that goes out about half way on the core and completely covers each belly. Then I do an X pattern of four telescoping layers over the flat wraps.

Jyri - two bellies and an overlay. Also six total sinew wraps and six layers of hockey tape.

Flemming - I've never used a leather whip, but I'm guessing it would be similar.

About the same. It needs breaking in, though. The last half is a little too rigid.

Latest whip. Black and silver, which turned grey in the wax. I absolutely hate black. It's too narrow and stretches too much causing some minor gapping issues. The whip is crazy stiff, though and I'm actually fairly happy with my knots. I'm going to try a hole on the end of the fall on this one. htt...

Huh? That's only about a pound. I think I need to recheck mine. I may have messed up the scale.
Never mind! It's early here and my brain isn't working right. That's about two pounds.
