Thanks Wolfgang. I was a little nervous about the color combination at first, but I am really happy with how it looks. And it does look even better in person. I have three more builds to get done by the end of the month (maybe four if I think I can squeeze it in). That one I have to do some research...

Thanks Mark. I enjoy blending my hobbies like that. I should mention, the top picture was before I rolled it. I ended up rolling it, coiling it and putting it in a box. I took the pics at 4:15ish and UPS picks up from my job at around 4:00, so I rolled it, and then rushed to get it boxed up and read...

First Build in a While

It has been quite a while since I had the chance to get another whip build in, and I'm really proud of how this one came out. Added a few diamond plait sections as well as some birds eye on the thong of this whip. It really adds something to it. http://i.imgur.com/Pdub0at.jpg I also added a leather ...

I know this is supposed to be a simpler, more beginner whip, but there is something incredibly beautiful about this one. I dont know why, but it just looks amazing. The colors are wonderful together, and I really love that handle idea. It just comes together really well.

Robby, Jess, Robert, I have to apologize for my lack of participation lately. I've been getting about 4 hours of sleep a day due to work and school, so I just have very little time. That being said, I am going to be getting better about it. Also, I am in the midst of trying to figure out what it is ...

Thanks Ron! I really like how it came out. Seeing the whole build completed really makes the whole process worth it.

The whole thing is done, but I am waiting on the epoxy to dry for the "concho" on the heel before I take real pictures. I made a leather ferrule using part of the logo for my friend's sideshow group (with their partner's permission, that way I avoided copyright issues). I tied two 5x4 TH k...

Thanks Scott. First time with the Birds eye plait. Not sure how often I'm going to be using it. It really hurt my fingers holding the strands in place.

Georg, I don't know if I'm missing something, but the only "problem" I see is a small twist on the right hand side.

Thanks guys. I'm super happy with it. I do have to wait until May 12th to find out what its new owner is gonna think. His performing partner consulted with me to plan it. She loves the design of it.

Mark, using it on the open binding just meant angling the tool just a little. It went so smooth. Georg, I picked it up on EBay for about $12. Best investment I've ever made. The only issue is that you have to load the spool yourself. What I did, was put a piece of steel rod in my vise, then put the ...

Herbert, Thank you. Its a little time consuming, but getting even spacing with the binding makes a world of difference. I experimented using a bowyer server, and it worked great. I got a lot more tension on the sinew with it.

Jyri, once you have it polished back out to where you want it, you could put a coat of urethane on it. It would stop it from oxidizing.
