Collin, I purchased this hickory from Wood Workers Source, so not certain of its origin. I would assume its part sap wood and heart wood.

Collin they have been carrying long light weight 12 plait whips forever, but I have turned a lot of them onto these heavier 16 plait whips. I have been building a lot of medium weight 14 plait whips lately, and they are a nice balance between the 2

I am constantly trying different ideas to improve my designs. This is my latest idea that seems to work great. I’ve never been much of a fan of sinker cord, but have found a use for it. Here is a quick video of my new core.

I love making Christmas whips for kids. This one is going to Florida for an 11 year old cowboy. Its 8 feet and 14 plait in Chocolate Brown with an Electric Blue highlight. The Bocote handle is 17" and has his M-bar brand. I am finding that 14 plait has the perfect weight for a working whip. htt...
